project354 – May 9, 2012 – Eleven Fifteen

Yeah, that’s random.

“After a hurricane, comes a rainbow.” Words of wisdom from a pop star? Ok, so be it, I’ll take it where I can get it. Thank you Katy Perry.

I know I have been slacking on my 365 project. Life simply got in the way. However, I intend to catch up soon. I have still been taking pictures just about every day, so I will get them uploaded a.s.a.p. Be prepared for a pic dump, coming soon to a blog near you.

Beach brunch

Nokaoi, Huntington Beach, brunch. Very tasty! Check it out sometime on a nice spring or summer day, make sure to sit outside on the patio, it’s nice.

Flower Power

This pretty little pentagon of pedals was awaiting me this morning, out near my front walkway, basking in the sun. I snapped a couple pictures, and thought I would share. Take a moment to stop and smell the roses today!

Yes, I know, hexagon would have been more appropriate than pentagon, but hexagon doesn’t start with a p, so I embellished a little bit.

Colorful kids

My kids have remarkably colorful personalities, they light up the room when they are around. Bathtime has been colorful lately too, thanks to crayola, who make these clever little color tablets designed for kids bathwater. This time we were going for purple, and due to a happy accident I put the blue tablet on the his side, and the red (pink) one on her side, and then recognized the photo op before it got all mixed together. I managed to snap a pic at the perfect time, big smiles, and all the kiddy private bits covered up, so I couldn’t resist sharing. This may be one of my favorite pictures of the year so far… of course I am a bit biased, I have the cutest kids in the world! This was taken with my D80, 35mm prime, and bounced speedlight.

Beans, beans, the magical fruit

Oh yeah baby, you know where this is heading. Another culinary adventure worthy of some written words, and a photo or two. Let’s start with the sauce. This little container of fiery goodness tickles my tongue, and sets my heart ablaze. It is the perfect companion to the main course, seen below.

This, my friends, is a Cancun Fresh chicken supremo burrito. I have devoured something on the order of two bakers dozens (or more) of these since moving into the neighborhood. I have no idea what they season or marinade their chicken in, but I do know that when I bite into it, my taste buds light up and smile with glee, each one simulating a tiny sideways emoticon with a large parenthetic smile. A perfect mixture of accessories accompany the meat, in the form of rice, cheese, peppers, and sour cream. Despite the title of this post, there aren’t actually any beans involved in the making of this burrito, but you know the drill, titles sell, so deal with it. If you can’t tell, I am elated each and every time we decide to eat here, and I can’t bring myself to order anything else!

These photos were taken with my little old temperamental hand me down droid x, in macro mode, and “I’m feeling lucky”-ized and cropped in picasa.
